Honorary Award in the Arts

The International Peace Alliance | Alliance Internationale de la Paix (IPA-AIP) is pleased to announce that Mr. Moses Znaimer, renowned media innovator, Zoomer advocate, and cultural visionary, has been named the recipient of the 2025 IPA | AIP Honorary Award in the Arts.
The IPA | AIP Honorary Award in the Arts recognizes the power of cultural and artistic work in advancing peace, as well as the conservation, protection, and promotion of cultural and natural heritage.
Mr. Znaimer is honoured for his outstanding achievements and pioneering contributions to television, music, and media, forever transforming the media landscape while fostering public interest in and appreciation of the arts.
Mr. Znaimer is a celebrated broadcaster, producer, and outspoken advocate for the role of media in equipping the public with the knowledge and philosophies needed to engage creatively with the world.
Through his foundation and television networks, he has provided essential financial support and opportunities for developing new ways to present the arts across disciplines and modes of expression, leaving a lasting mark on media organizations globally.
In the 1970s, long before the digital age of Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube, Mr. Znaimer anticipated the power of user-generated content and interactive broadcasting. As co-founder of Citytv, MuchMusic, CablePulse24, and ZoomerMedia, he launched over 20 groundbreaking television stations and channels, pioneering concepts such as Speaker’s Corner, Videography, and the Studioless Streetfront Television Operating System. His influence is evident in the live, street-level, open-window television formats seen around the world today.
Mr. Znaimer’s commitment to the arts extends through ZoomerMedia, the world’s only diversified media and advocacy company devoted to products, services, and entertainment for the 45+ demographic, and through ZoomerPlex, a state-of-the-art production and live event complex in Toronto’s Liberty Village. His MZTV Museum of Television & Archive houses the world’s largest collection of rare pre-WWII and vintage television sets, preserving cultural history while inspiring future generations.
A graduate of McGill University with an Honours BA in Philosophy and Politics, followed by a Master’s degree in Government at Harvard, Mr. Znaimer’s insatiable curiosity led him to found ideaCity, an annual gathering of some of the world’s brightest minds, which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2019. His partnership with NASA and Google in launching Singularity University further demonstrates his commitment to innovation and interdisciplinary learning.
Mr. Znaimer’s numerous honours include:
• Order of Ontario
• Governor General’s Performing Arts Award
• Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal
• Juno’s Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award
• Designation of “Moses Znaimer Way” on Toronto’s Queen Street
• Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by France
The IPA | AIP Honorary Award in the Arts will be formally presented to Mr. Znaimer at the Peace Ambassadors Awards Gala & Grand Ball, the concluding event of the 2025 International Peace Festival, on September 26, 2025, at the King Edward Hotel in Toronto, Canada.
Mr. Znaimer’s visionary use of media to educate, empower, and engage global citizens in the arts, while preserving and protecting cultural heritage, is a testament to his dedication to building a more informed, creative, and peaceful world.
